ELABORATORY

Elaboratory is a 3-day event held at Kunstencentrum Vooruit May 1, 2 and 3 2019.

We created a space called The Library Garden in which we presented some of our works such as the benches Act Naturally and Pause 5, 6, 7, 8, the Tools for Leisure and Discipline Knees Bend and Curl Up, the curtain Pathways are to Promenades what Routes are to Roads, carpets No winter rules on the Bermuda grass and Touch the green, our film Parkways, 3 structures from our first performance buren by buren and our Dearly Dialogues. We presented our performance Blue Skies Forever in the Domzaal and invited Charlotte Vanden Eynde to perform I'm Sorry it's (Not) a Story. A mesmerising dance piece.

Next to that we invited artists and writers that have inspired us into the Library Garden.

The Ghent based reading group Other Women's Flowers presented a video of a staged version of a reading session called Our Feast. Nienke Scholts presented her Words for the Future with texts linking the booklets to our practice. We asked Cecilia Condit if we could present Possibly in Michingan and she agreed.

During the 3 days we held moments in the Library to read and listen to texts.

Day 1: Ilse Ghekiere and Siska Baeck read the entire essay by Virginia Woolf, A Room of One's Own.

Day 2: Veva Leye presented 2 poems from HAP AX LE GO ME NON and Eleanor Ivory Weber performed Glossolalien Missive.

Day 3: Gitte Hendrikx gave a performative lecture on her text John and Jane Doe, Anne-Marijn Voorhorst read Gebitje and Louche created a music and sound based performance. We performed our T-shirt Conversations in the Balzaal and after all that we had a dress-up party themed Wear Your Words.  (more images will be coming up in the upcoming days)
