Parkways

 

During the spring of 2014 buren was part of BijlmAIR, a residency organised by Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, CBK Zuidoost and Stichting Flat. The Bijlmer, its history, architecture and setting functioned as an inspiration and decor for a film in which a park is depicted. The film is situated in a fictive research on pastime and time-consuming, an observation of people lingering and wandering around. By combining staged images with observations of the environment buren creates a grey area between reality and fiction, fiction and fantasy. The park becomes a place of desire and promise, where we catch a subtle search for the identity of the inhabitant, visitor, tourist.
